We celebrated Tamil new year on the 14 April 2010. SSPN young youth played a drama called Arunagirinathar. Biograghy of 14th century Tamil Saint Arunagirinathar the great Tamil and Sanskrit exponent of Murugan bhakti.

MESSAGE FROM CHAIRMAN

My Pranams to Swami. First and foremost, I am indeed honoured to be given this enviable opportunity to pen a few words in this inaugural newsletter of Sathya Sai Baba Bhajan Unit of Taman Yarl or also known as Sathya Sai Prashanti Nilayam (SSPN).

As Swami says, “Mankind can win happiness only through unity and not through diversity. If thoughts and feelings run along the routes of distinction and division, happiness is beyond reach, and peace cannot be experienced. Consider the One Indivisible Ocean as the goal. Unity with Purity leads to Divinity”. This excerpt from Prasanthi Vahini has been the cornerstone in bringing about the existence of SSPN.
From our humble beginnings in January at the Late Uncle Satgunam’s house, we have progressed and moved into a new premise in July. Various events were celebrated in high spirits. Just five months into its inception, the centre is thriving with activities of various kinds. The various wings of the unit i.e. Service, Education and Spiritual have been able to carry out a range of activities throughout the year, thus, fulfilling its objectives. You will be able to see this in detail in the subsequent pages of this eventful and meaningful newsletter
Sathya Sai ‘Prashanti Nilayam’, ‘the abode of pure and eternal peace’ is the name of the bhajan unit. Each and every devotee strives to attain peace of mind. Hence, we sincerely pray that Swami turns SSPN into a concrete platform for the spiritual growth of devotees as ‘Self-Realization’ is the ultimate goal of human birth.
Not to forget, we are fortunate to have an extremely reliable and active group of devotees who have been at the forefront in realizing all our planned activities. Their selfless service is greatly appreciated.

Begining of SSPN

The story of the new Sathya Sai Baba Bhajan Unit of Taman Yarl (SSBBUTY) really began with the coming together of several families to render support to Satgunam’s family. When the Late Uncle Satgunam fell ill, these devotees used to visit him with their prayers and this helped him cope with his illness in many ways. Then one day, the Late Uncle Satgunam said, “Why don’t you use my house for your Thursday Bhajans. But first I have to consult with my wife.” The good lady readily agreed.

At first, only a few ardent devotees attended (about 10) which was fine because the house lacked space to accommodate more. Some devotees willingly offered to teach Vedas and Balvikas classes. These devotees were self-sufficient to a large extent with each devotee taking on various tasks and responsibilities to ensure the bhajans went on smoothly. Purely by word of mouth and definitely by the grace of Bhagawan, the crowd started growing and this went on until 5th July 2009.
